Steelers Practice Report: Offense Wins Again, Deep Balls Come Out
Pittsburgh Steelers Practice Report: The offense once again won while in pads, with the deep ball featuring for the first time.
UNITY TWP., Pa. — The Pittsburgh Steelers had their 15th training camp practice of 2024 on Monday at St. Vincent College, and Alan Saunders of Steelers Now was there to break it all down.
The Steelers were back in pads, and once again the offense got the best of the defense in that setting, scoring five touchdowns in the practice-opening seven shots drills.
After that, they uncorked the deep ball part of their offense for the first time this training camp, with Calvin Austin III, Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins all making big plays down the field from Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
Fields and Wilson rotated in with the first team. It appears that both will play in the team’s second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills this Saturday.
Finally, the team run period created chaos, but no dust-ups, despite a couple of body slams from defenders Montravius Adams and Luquay Washington.
