Steelers Practice Report: Wilson Explains Injury, Offense Improves, Rookie Making Mark
Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Practice Report: With no Russell Wilson, defense takes day one.
UNITY TWP., Pa. — The Pittsburgh Steelers had their second training camp practice of 2024 on Thursday at St. Vincent College, and Alan Saunders of Steelers Now were there to break it all down. For the second straight day, starting quarterback Russell Wilson did not participate in practice, with Justin Fields leading the first-team offense. Fields had a much calmer day in his second day than his first, extending a broken play and hitting George Pickens on a long bomb and cleaning up some of the pocket management issues from Day 1.
The defense is still ahead of the offense, with T.J. Watt and Donte Jackson combining for a double pass breakup to secure a 4-3 defensive win in the first seven shots drill of training camp. Newcomers DeShon Elliott and Jackson continue to shine in coverage, and rookie undrafted free agent Beanie Bishop is also getting a ton of work, replacing Cam Sutton as the club’s first-team slot cornerback. All that and more in today’s Pittsburgh Steelers Practice Report.
