Steelers Promote Center Patrick Morris to Active Roster

The Steelers promoted center Patrick Morris from their practice squad to their active roster on Friday and placed center, Maurkicee Pouncey on the suspended list.

Pouncey will be suspended for two games for his role in the Steelers’ brawl with the Cleveland Browns last Thursday. He was initially suspended three games, but had it reduced after an appeal.

Pouncey was suspended for kicking and punching Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett after Garrett struck Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph with his own helmet.

Veteran backup B.J. Finney is expected to start in Pouncey’s place. Morris, in his second year with the team, will provide depth.

The Steelers originally signed Morris as an undrafted free agent out of TCU in 2018. He spent all of that season on the practice squad and has not played in an NFL game.

To fill Morris’ spot on the practice squad, the Steelers re-signed tight end Kevin Rader. Rader had been released from the practice squad earlier in the week to make room for center JC Hassenauer.
