PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren will appeal the fine he received for a pass block in his team’s Week 7 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Warren was fined $48,556 for this pass block, which was called unnecessary roughness, by the NFL for his hit on Michael Hoecht.

“Yeah, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,” Warren said. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to hit dudes are like 350 pounds and two feet taller than me. I can’t stand my ground and punch them. They’ll run me over.”
Warren was also fined $48,333 earlier this season for illegal use of his helmet against the Cleveland Browns and safety Juan Thornhill.

Do you think the fine was justified?

Warren also appealed that fine, and got it reduced by approximately $9,000 on appeal. In total, the Steelers have been fined $339,079 through the first seven weeks of the season. That’s the most in the entire NFL. Warren’s latest fine will be the highest individual fine for the Steelers this season if it is not reversed on appeal.
If this latest fine against Warren is upheld, he’ll have forfeited over $87,000 of his salary for this season, which is more than 10% of his pre-tax earnings. Warren is set to make $870,000 this season, his second year in the league after joining the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He has one season remaining on his contract and is set to become a restricted free agent in 2025.
NFL player fines go to the Professional Athletes Foundation, which helps support NFL legends in need and youth football initiatives.
