PITTSBURGH – Najee Harris, who began his NFL career with high expectations, both for his success in college at Alabama and being selected as a first round pick, has put together an historic rookie season. In the Steelers Monday Night Football game against Cleveland, Harris surpassed 1,000 rushing yards.
It was a 6-yard gain in the first quarter that sent Harris over 1,000 yards. After already reaching 1,000 total yards, the next individual milestone was to claim 1,000+ yards just on the ground. Harris entered the night with 984 yards as a runner and 422 as a receiver this season. While these benchmarks are set as a standard for running backs, Harris has had to endure an up and down season, mostly due to playing with a banged up and inexperienced offensive line. This has resulted in Harris averaging 3.7 yards per carry.
Harris’ production also includes scoring six touchdowns this year.
