It is no mystery the Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of a solidified option at wide receiver. On Tuesday, reports circulated that the Las Vegas Raiders have began to gage interest around the league for star receiver Davante Adams.
Adams, who signed with the Raiders in the 2022 to play alongside his college quarterback Derek Carr, has made it known to the organization he is ready to move on. The Steelers have faced Adams in each season from 2021-2023–once with the Green Bay Packers and twice in prime time games against the Raiders. They also would face him in two weeks if he is active and not dealt before they head to Las Vegas.
While the Steelers are certainly familiar with the abilities of Adams from their matchups, a playmaker for the Steelers seemed to create an attempt at recruiting the 6-time Pro Bowl Receiver.
On Tuesday, Steelers KR/RB Cordarelle Patterson posted on X “Sounds like he wanna be a @Steelers” in response to speculation of Adams’ availability via trade.
This wouldn’t be the first time the Steelers have been linked to a receiver for trade. It wasn’t too long ago that the Steelers were the hottest named team around acquiring San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk before he ultimately elected to stay in San Francisco.
Outside of George Pickens, the Steelers wide receiver room is filled with inconsistencies and is in general very underwhelming. The presence of an All-Pro caliber receiver could certainly help the room and offense.
While no trade is currently imminent, the closer the trade deadline approaches, the more likely a deal will be made for the 11th year receiver out of Fresno State.
