The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed three players to future contracts for the 2025 season that spent part of 2024 with the club, the team announced on Tuesday.
The Steelers brought back defensive tackle Domenique Davis, wide receiver Lance McCutcheon and cornerback Kyler McMichael for the 2025 season.
Davis, 28, signed with the team’s practice squad on Nov. 5 and was released on Dec. 6, without being elevated for a game. He was signed after the injury to starting nose tackle Montravius Adams, and released once Adams returned.
Davis had most recently been with the Cincinnati Bengals, who released him on Oct. 22. Davis had been with the Bengals since 2022, but only played in two games with the team in that time, recording three career tackles. Davis has played both nose tackle and three-technique defensive tackle in his time in the NFL.
A 6-foot-2, 326-pound native of Laurinburg, North Carolina, Davis played collegiately at Division II UNC-Pembroke.
He went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and was signed by the New York Jets, but was released with a failed physical designation later that summer. Two years later, Davis resurrected his career with the Houston Gambles of the USFL. He played in 1o games with the Gamblers in the spring of 2022, recording 24 tackles and four sacks.
Davis turned that USFL experience into a contract with the Bengals. He was released coming out of training camp, but was re-signed to the practice squad, and made his NFL debut, replacing an injured D.J. Reader as a call-up.
After playing two games in 2022, Davis re-signed with the Bengals for 2023, was again released after training camp and signed to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster last Dec. 22, after another injury to Reader, but did not play in any games.
He one again re-signed with Cincinnati for 2024, was released after training camp, and signed to the Bengals practice squad, but Cincinnati cut him from their practice squad on Oct. 22.
McCutcheon signed to the team’s practice squad on Oct. 20 and was released on Nov. 12 without appearing in a game.
McCutcheon had spent most of the past two seasons with the New York Jets practice squad. Prior to his time with the Jets, he entered the league in 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of Montana State; signing with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent part of the 2023 season on the Houston Texans practice squad as well.
A Bozeman, Montana native, McCutcheon finished his career at Montana State with 94 catches for 1,741 yards (10th in MSU history) and 13 touchdowns (8th).His 19.1 yards per catch in his career and 19.3 yards per catch in 2021 are school records and his five 100-yard games in 2021 is second-most in MSU history.
McMichael joined the Steelers mid-training camp on July 30 and was released as part of the final cut down to 53 players on Aug. 26.
McMichael is in his four pro season out of North Carolina. The 24-year-old appeared in two preseason game for the Steelers last year, recording five tackles and one pass breakup. He played a total of 34 defensive snaps, all as an outside cornerback or Dime cornerback.
The 6-foot, 203-pound Atlanta native originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina after the 2022 NFL Draft. After being cut by the Bucs, he spent the 2022 season on the Buffalo Bills practice squad. In 2023, he was released by the Bills, claimed on waivers by the Arizona Cardinals, but then waived with an injury designation and missed the rest of the season.
He did not play with any other team after being released by the Steelers in August.
