Steelers Re-Sign Tuzar Skipper, Place L.T. Walton on IR

The Steelers have re-signed outside linebacker Tuzar Skipper and placed defensive lineman L.T. Walton on injured reserve.

Skipper originally signed with the Steelers this spring as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo, and was on the team’s first 53-man roster, but was released before playing a game in Black and Gold.

The 6-foot-3, 246-pound Skipper played in all four preseason games for the Steelers and led the entire NFL this preseason with five sacks. He also had two forced fumbles and finished the preseason with 18 total tackles.

After being waived by the Steelers, Skipper was claimed by the New York Giants. He played in six games with New York, recording one-half sack and three tackles.

The Giants waived Skipper on Oct. 22 and after he cleared, signed him to their practice squad.

The Steelers released outside linebacker Jay Elliott after their game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday and also released outside linebacker Sutton Smith from their practice squad.

Behind starters Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt, Anthony Chickillo missed Thursday’s game with a rib cartilage injury and Ola Adeniyi left the game with a concussion, leaving Skipper as the only other option.

Walton, 27, was signed by the Steelers on Oct. 10 after Stephon Tuitt was lost for the season for a pectoral injury. He suffered a meniscus injury during practice that required surgery.
