Steelers Re-Sign WR Eli Rogers, DL Daniel McCullers

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue their traditional ways of placing an importance on retaining in-house players, re-signing what they believe to be two important core players on Thursday.

WR Eli Rogers and DL Daniel McCullers will find themselves back in black and gold for 2019. Both players reached two year deals to remain with the organization.

Rogers, an un-drafted free agent out of Louisville, has spent the previous four seasons on Pittsburgh’s roster. Rogers has battled everything from suspension to injuries in his time with the Steelers, but when on the field, he’s proven to be a valuable asset.

McCullers, drafted a year earlier in 2014 before Rogers entered the league, will look to create more of an impact after dressing for 15 games last season. In a crowded defensive line, that features talents like Cam Hayward and Stephon Tuitt, McCullers’ impact has been limited, mostly by a lack of opportunity. This news is somewhat surprising because many expected the Steelers to not re-sign McCullers.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports McCullers’ deal is worth $2.75 million while the financial details of Rogers’ deal remains unknown.
