Steelers Release Depth Offensive Lineman Despite Injuries
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released guard Tyler Beach, despite a number of injuries along the offensive line.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released offensive lineman Tyler Beach, the team announced on Monday, as one of nine early cuts before the 53-man roster deadline.
Beach had been working on the Steelers third-team offensive line, mostly as a guard. He played in all three preseason games, earning a total of 38 snaps, all at left guard.
The Steelers played with tackles Troy Fautanu and Dylan Cook and center Nate Herbig on Saturday. Herbig is out for the season, and the Steelers’ offensive line depth is getting short, but they cut Beach before their final two pre-cut down practices on Monday and Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Wisconsin alum is in his second professional season. He signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent last year, but was released and spent almost the entire 2023 season out of the NFL before catching on with the Steelers practice squad on Jan. 9, just before their playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. The Steelers then re-signed Beach to a future contract for the 2024 season.
The Steelers also announced the release wide receivers Jacob Copeland and T.J. Luther, running back Daijun Edwards, offensive tackle Devery Hamilton, defensive tackle Marquiss Spencer, inside linebacker Kyahva Tezino and cornerback Kiondre Thomas on Monday.
Additionally, it has been reported that the team released cornerback Kyler McMichael, though that was not officially announced.
The team has until 4 p.m. on Tuesday to cut from 91 players on the offseason roster down to 53. After nine cuts, their roster is currently at 82 players.
