The Pittsburgh Steelers have released offensive tackle TyKeem Doss, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon. The Steelers claimed Doss off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 12. Doss got reps with the third-team during the preseason, so he faced an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster. Perhaps he could be a candidate for the team’s practice squad.
Doss, a product of the University of Southern Mississippi, originally joined the Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent the entire 2023 season on Baltimore’s practice squad and was later signed to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 29, 2024.
Doss, who is listed at 6-foot-5 and 375 pounds, produced 28 reps on the bench, recorded a 24 inch vertical and 8-foot-3 broad jump, and ran a 5.54 40-yard dash along with a 8.19 second 3-cone at his Pro Day at Southern Miss.
Doss saw limited action in the Ravens’ preseason debut against the Philadelphia Eagles, logging just one snap at left guard. However, during last year’s preseason, he played all his snaps at left tackle.
Doss was a three-year starter at Southern Miss after playing two seasons at East Central Community College (Decatur, Miss.). He helped the Golden Eagles average 372.0 yards per contest in 2020. He played in nine games and started in the final six games at left guard. In 2021, he played in eight games on the offensive line, with three starts at left tackle.
