The Pittsburgh Steelers have released nose tackle Eli Ankou from their practice squad, just one week after he joined the team.
A third-round pick out of UCLA in 2017, Ankou has played for seven NFL teams, most recently the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent two weeks in August.
The 6-foot-3, 325-pound defensive tackle played in seven games with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, nine with the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and 11 with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-18.
The Steelers got nose tackle Carlos Davis back to practice late last week. He had been out for four weeks with a knee injury.
After releasing Ankou, the Steelers added wide receiver Anthony Miller and defensive tackle Isaiah Mack to their practice squad. Meanwhile, the Lions signed away cornerback Mark Gilbert.
