Steelers Release OLB Delontae Scott from Practice Squad

Steelers OLB Delontae Scott

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released outside linebacker Delontae Scott from their practice squad after he played in each of the team’s last two games, the club announced on Tuesday.

Scott has been with the Steelers since Sept. 7, 2021, when he first joined the team’s practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster once in 2021, in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He played in nine snaps without recording any statistics.

The Steelers re-signed Scott to a future contract and he spent the 2022 offseason with the club. Scott had five tackles and four pressures in three preseason games. He was among the team’s final round of cuts before the start of the regular season.

Scott was added to the practice squad and after the injury to starting outside linebacker T.J. Watt, he was a game-day elevation to the active roster against both the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns.

Scott played seven snaps of defense against New England and nine against Cleveland without recording any statistics.

Outside linebacker David Anenih, who the Steelers signed from the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad in Week 2, has been a healthy scratch for each of his first two games. He is the most likely candidate to dress in Scott’s absence.

Scott was released in order to make room for punter Jordan Berry on the practice squad. The Steelers signed Berry as insurance for injured punter Pressley Harvin III.
