The Steelers have released defensive lineman Chris Slayton from their practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday.

Slayton had only been with the team about a week. He was signed on Oct. 27. His release, along with promotion of linebacker Taco Charlton, made for the team to add defensive tackle Khalil Davis and kicker Josh Lambo.

Slayton was a seventh-round pick of the New York Giants out of Syracuse in 2019. The 25-year-old is a native of Crete, Illinois.

He spent the 2019 season with the Giants, most of which was on the practice squad. He was with the Buffalo Bills practice squad in 2020 and the Atlanta Falcons from 2020 until recently. He has never played in an NFL game.
