The Steelers released quarterback Taryn Christion from their practice squad on Monday, just a week after adding him.

Christion, a former South Dakota State quarterback, played the role of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on the Steelers’ practice squad as the team prepared to face the Ravens last Sunday.

The Steelers will now face more traditional quarterbacks than the hyper-athletic Jackson in Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Miami Dolphins quarterback Josh Rosen.

The Steelers also have former Denver Broncos starting quarterback Paxton Lynch on their practice squad in addition to starter Mason Rudolph and backup Devlin Hodges.

Rudolph remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol after leaving Sunday’s game.

The Steelers have not announced a corresponding transaction for Christion and have an open spot on their practice squad.
