Steelers Retain Top Spot in AFC after Loss

The Pittsburgh Steelers remain the No. 1 seed in the AFC, despite Monday’s loss to Washington.

The 11-1 Steelers are currently tied with the also 11-1 Kansas City Chiefs for the top spot in the AFC, but the Steelers currently hold the tiebreaker with Kansas City, due to a better record against AFC teams. The Steelers are 8-0 against the AFC, while Kansas City is 9-1.

The Chiefs are the only AFC team to clinch a playoff berth, as their two remaining NFC games would give them an advantage should Pittsburgh and Kansas City both lose out.

The Steelers will be able to clinch an AFC North title on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills if the Cleveland Browns lose to the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers will clinch a playoff berth with a win or any number of teams losing.
