Steelers Schedule Release: 2024 Theme Games

With training camp starting next week, the Pittsburgh Steelers revealed their game themes for the 2024 season on Tuesday.

The Steelers will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Super Bowl IX team during Alumni Weekend when they host the New York Jets on Sunday, Oct. 20. The Alumni Dinner will be held on Sat., Oct. 19. It will be interesting to see if the Steelers wear their 1970s throwbacks against the Jets on Sunday Night Football.

The Steelers are 4-0 when they wear their 1970s throwbacks. They were first worn in 2018, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Steelers’ Super Bowl XIII team. Pittsburgh  brought the unis back in 2022 against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Eve, in honor of Franco Harris’ jersey retirement.

The Steelers will have the Hall of Honor ceremony when they face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Dec. 8. The Hall of Honor Dinner will be held on Sat., Dec. 7, when the team officially inducts this year’s Hall of Honor class during a special ceremony at Acrisure Stadium. The Hall of Honor class is usually announced during the first week of training camp.

The Steelers will also take part in the league’s player cause initiative, My Cause, My Cleats against the Browns on Dec. 8.

The Steelers will have their annual fundraising event, Steelers Style event, on Friday., Oct. 4. It’s the team’s largest philanthropic event, benefiting UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, Cancer Bridges and the Chuck Noll Foundation. Pittsburgh will host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Oct. 6, which is the ‘Crucial Catch: Intercept Cancer’ game. The initiative supports the fight against cancer and is highlighted by NFL teams during October.

Friday, Aug. 9 — vs. Houston Texans — “Play Football” game

Saturday, Aug. 17 — vs. Buffalo Bills — Family Day

Sunday, Sept. 22 — vs. Los Angeles Chargers — Home Opener

Sunday, Nov. 17 — vs. Baltimore Ravens — Salute to Service

Wednesday, Dec. 25 — vs. Kansas City Chiefs — NFL social justice initiative

Week 18, TBD — vs. Cincinnati Bengals  — “Thank You Fans” game

The Steelers have no theme listed for their Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants on Oct. 28.

The annual Kickoff and Rib Festival at Acrisure Stadium will run from August 29 through September 2. The annual Steelers Run Walk and Kids Fun Run will be held that weekend, as well.
