PITTSBURGH — It may have taken until Week 3, but the inevitable has finally happened for Steelers rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth. Ben Roethlisberger threw Freiermuth his first NFL career touchdown reception in the final two minutes of the first half against the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021.

Freiermuth, who was known in college at Penn State as a great pass catcher, was able to use his size to garb the ball and get Pittsburgh into the end zone for the first time in the game.

The 22-year-old’s touchdown catch allowed the score to be tied following the successful extra point. Freiermuth entered Week 3 with five receptions for 60 yards, but was unable to put a touchdown on the scoreboard for Pittsburgh.
