INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers are always valuing versatility, whether that be in the secondary or on the defensive line. Well, if they are looking for a guy on the defensive line who can play to differing fronts and give them multiple options, they can find their guy in Georgia defensive linemen, Travon Walker, who they have a meeting with Friday.

Not only is Walker versatile, but he is athletic. The traits that Walker will carry with him may mean Walker does not even make it to when the Steelers are on the board. Still, Walker’s standing in NFL circles can not be ignored. The Steelers are not throwing a cold shoulder his way, either, as Walker has a scheduled formal meeting with the Steelers’ staff.

Walker’s athleticism and speed-to-power make him an exciting player. He can play on the edge with fantastic length and explosiveness. Moreover, Walker carries his weight well and is almost all muscle. However, his explosiveness and frame give him the ability to play on the interior, too. He has the weight to shift inside and create mismatches as a standing spinner.

If the Steelers want a do-it-all type of player who can really open up Brian Flores’s blitz schemes, Walker may be the guy to do it with. Still, they would have to spend a first-round pick on him. Even if the Steelers like the idea, spending a first-round pick on a pass rusher seems unlikely.
