As the Pittsburgh Steelers head into the 2024 NFL Draft tonight, a position group that still needs to be addressed is the wide receivers. After the initial signings of Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins, the Steelers have made no additional moves at the position. Some NFL experts think that the Steelers will trade for a guy like Brandon Aiyuk or Courtland Sutton while others have the Steelers moving up for Washington’s Rome Odunze in the draft. A more realistic option is to take Texas’ AD Mitchell at pick No. 20.
SN analyst Derrick Bell breaks down the scouting report for Mitchell: where he excels and the things that he’ll need to work on as he transitions to the next level. As one of the few underclassman in the entire class, Mitchell is just 22-years-old. While he does have an NFL frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, his athletic ability is what pops off of the paper as his Relative Athletic Score or RAS tested out at 9.99, which is one of the highest scores of all-time at the position. If the Steelers look to add a weapon with their first-round selection, Mitchell could be a home run pick for Omar Khan and company.
