Steelers Show Strong Interest in Rising CB Prospect
The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting Florida State cornerback Azareye’h Thomas for a top-30 pre-draft visit.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting Florida State cornerback Azareye’h Thomas for a pre-draft visit at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday.
Thomas is one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, and is currently the No. 40 player on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board.
The Steelers recently signed veteran cornerback Darius Slay in free agency to pair with Joey Porter Jr. in their secondary, but Slay is likely just a one-year rental at 34.
Thomas, on the other hand, is still only 20 and has the makings of a true shutdown corner. Over the past three years at Florida State, he has 96 tackles (65 solo), 0.5 sack, one forced fumble, two interceptions and 15 passes defensed.
The 6-foot-1 1/2, 197-pound cornerback didn’t participate in most of the drills at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he did record a 10-foot-2 broad jump.
Pittsburgh has been showing interest in Thomas for some time now, dating back to the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, and hosting him on a pre-draft visit only further cements that he is a realistic option for the team at pick No. 21 in the first round.

In addition to Thomas, Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden, Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson and Pitt tight end Gavin Bartholomew all visited the South Side on Thursday.
Bartholomew is exempt from the maximum of 30 pre-draft visits as a local player. The Steelers have used nine of their 30 visits, with another eight reported.
