MOBILE, Ala. — The Pittsburgh Steelers are showing some significant interest in Liberty quarterback Malik Willis at the 2022 Senior Bowl.

Head coach Mike Tomlin found Willis on the field after Tuesday’s practice at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama. He told the young quarterback that he wanted to meet Willis‘s parents, who were in the stands.

Willis’ father, Harold Willis, told Steelers Now that general manager Kevin Colbert had introduced himself during Liberty’s win in the LendingTree Bowl, also in Mobile.

After practice was over, Tomlin, Colbert and offensive coordinator Matt Canada met up with the family on the concourse.

Willis is one of six quarterbacks for the Steelers to scout in Mobile. Quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan was seen having a conversation with Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett after the National team practice earlier in the day.

Nevada’s Carson Strong and Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder are also in that group. North Carolina’s Sam Howell and Western Kentucky passer Bailey Zappe practiced with Willis in the afternoon session.
