PITTSBURGH — The Steelers cornerbacks were hard at work on Friday, working to slow down the Browns passing game. While that passing attack is not coming off a strong game, they boast several weapons. Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, David Njoku, and the new face in the room, Elijah Moore, boast credible threats to Pittsburgh in the passing game.
Pittsburgh struggled on the outside, with Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace allowing big plays and touchdowns. Their miscommunication throughout the secondary was highlighted on Thursday by defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, who wants to see that get better.

“I think that’s, again, communication obviously. When you make a communication error in the back end, it results in a big play, and we saw a few of those happen last week,” Austin said. “So, I think it’s important that we do get that ironed out. That’s something that we’ve talked about from day one. It’s always been an emphasis, whether you have a new group or an old group because when you get in the stadiums and you’re working in that back seven, any mistake cuts a guy free, and most times when guys get cut free in this League, they find the open guy. That was what happened last week. So we’ve got to do better at that.”
The Steelers now go back to the drawing board to see what they can do, but their time at practice this week is invaluable in team and individual periods.
