Steelers Sights & Sounds: Dan Moore Works Drills at LT
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. continued his return from a right knee sprain by working alongside starting left guard Isaac Seumalo on Wednesday. Moore and Seumalo worked together on a double team drill before practice while first-round draft pick Broderick Jones looked on. Offensive line coach Pat Meyer ran the drill.
Jones made his first career start while Moore missed the Steelers’ Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Moore was injured in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.
Many expected the Steelers to go back to the rookie, even with Moore’s return. Head coach Mike Tomlin deflected questions about the situation on Tuesday, saying that Moore’s health was a “big if” and declining to get into the hypothetical if both would play if Moore proved to be healthy.
“That’s a big if,” Tomlin said when asked if Moore would start. “We’ve got some work ahead of us. He’ll be given an opportunity to show his progress over the course of the week, and we’ll make that decision at the appropriate time. It doesn’t behoove us to make hypothetical statements in the early portions of the week. He looked pretty good yesterday. We’ll see where the week leads us.”
As of Wednesday morning, neither Jones nor Moore seemed sure as to who will start this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.
