Steelers Sights & Sounds: DeShon Elliott, Minkah Fitzpatrick Working on Chemistry
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers a big change to their secondary this offseason, when the club brought in free agent DeShon Elliott to be the team’s starting strong safety opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick played almost exclusively with Terrell Edmunds beside him in his first four years in Pittsburgh. Last season, the strong safety was a jumbled mess, with Keanu Neal injured, Damontae Kazee suspended, Trenton Thompson injury and veteran free agent Eric Rowe filling in after spending most of the season on his couch.
This year, Elliott and Fitzpatrick will try to hit the ground running, so they’re spending plenty of time at OTAs getting to know one another, as well as Fitzpatrick helping Elliott get used to the Pittsburgh defense after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins.
