Steelers Sights & Sounds: Edmunds Returns, CBs Work Tackling, Kazee Next?

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Terrell Edmunds returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills with a concussion. The team’s outside cornerbacks, minus Ahkello Witherspoon, Cam Sutton and Levi Wallace, worked a tackling drill with secondary coach Grady Brown, with new cornerback Duke Dawson (33) taking part in the drill.

Witherspoon (hamstring), Sutton (hamstring) and Wallace (concussion) are all expected to be limited in practice this week, as is free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee). James Pierre, Josh Jackson, Art Maulet and Tre Norwood would be in line to start if none of the Steelers’ other injured defensive backs return before Sunday’s home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There may be some reinforcements on the horizon, though. Safety Damontae Kazee, who has missed the first five weeks after being injured in the preseason finale and serving a three-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, was working off to the side during the early portion of Wednesday’s practice and could be nearing the opening of his 21-day practice window.
