Steelers Sights & Sounds: Kenny Pickett Practices on Wednesday

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

PITTSBURGH — After suffering a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens, it was uncertain if Kenny Pickett would be able to practice at all this week leading up to the Steelers’ matchup against the Carolina Panthers. However, it appears that for now, Pickett is on track to potentially play after practicing on Wednesday.

Pickett played only two series before being pulled for good after suffering the injury. Mike Tomlin was mum on who could start if Pickett does not play, but his inclusion in practice on Wednesday speaks well to his potential to suit up on Sunday. There are still many hurdles to clear before that can be said with certainty, but this is a first step to getting Pickett back onto the field. On Tuesday, Tomlin said the team will follow what the medical experts tell them in regards to Pickett.

“Whatever they decide is what we do,” Tomlin said. “And there’s really not a lot of discussions there.”

Kenny Pickett suffered his second concussion of the season. His previous concussion came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pickett did not miss a game after suffering his first concussion. However, Pickett showed signs of stumbling on Sunday, so the Steelers will likely take a cautious approach before fully clearing Pickett.
