Steelers Sign former Falcons Punter Cameron Nizialek to Practice Squad, Add to Active Roster vs. Chiefs

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed punter Cameron Nizialek to their practice squad and activated him for their game Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced on Saturday.

Nizialek, 26, is a fourth-year pro that played four games with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this season and averaged 45.4 yards per punt gross. He also handed kickoff duties in those games, with six touchbacks in 15 kickoffs.

The Steelers will have available both Nizialek and Corliss Waitman for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with starting punter Pressley Harvin III expected to miss the game following the death of his father.

Nizialek was an all-Ivy League punter for Columbia that attended Georgia as a graduate transfer in 2017. He went undrafted and did not play in the NFL his first pro season, catching own with the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football in the spring of 2019.

After that league folded, Nizialek got a chance with the Baltimore Ravens for training camp in 2019, but was released before the regular season.

In 2020, he got his first chance with the Falcons, spending a month on their practice squad. He later caught on with the Jacksonville Jaguars and re-signed with Jacksonville on a futures contract for 2021, but was waived in March.

Atlanta re-signed Nizialek on Aug. 3. He was released on Nov. 9 after playing in his first four career games.
