The Steelers have signed former Penn State and UMass linebacker Jarvis Miller to a one-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

Miller, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker from Suffield, Connecticut, spent four seasons at Penn State before joining UMass as a graduate transfer in 2019. He played in 12 games with the Minutemen and finished fourth on the team with 60 tackles in the most extensive playing time of his career. He also had 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one quarterback hit.

Miller went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and was not part of an NFL roster last season. He’s the third player in that situation signed this offseason by the Steelers, including former Eastern Michigan wide receive Mathew Sexton, who was also signed on Wednesday.

Miller will likely slot at inside linebacker for the Steelers, where he’ll join fellow former Penn State product Marcus Allen, Ulysees Gilbert III and Tegray Scales as depth behind current projected starters Devin Bush and Robert Spillane.
