Steelers Sign former Wake Forest Guard Nathan Gilliam to Practice Squad
The Steelers have signed first-year offensive guard Nathan Gilliam to their practice squad, according to the NFL transactions page for Tuesday.
Gilliam, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound Wake Forest graduate, has never played in an NFL game. He originally signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
He had signed with the Chargers on a reserve/future contract for the 2021 season in January. He was signed to the Chargers’ practice squad after training camp, but was released on Oct. 26.
The Steelers are missing a number of bodies along the offensive line, with Kevin Dotson, J.C. Hassenauer and B.J. Finney on injured reserve, though the first two are expected to practice this week.
Practice squad guard Malcolm Pridgeon was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list on Monday, making room for Gilliam on the 16-man squad, which is now full.
