The Steelers have signed defensive tackle Renell Wren to the practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday.

Wren was released last week to make room for new additions to the Steelers practice squad, but he is now back. He has been with the Steelers since early September when they signed him.

Wren comes to the Steelers after three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was their fourth-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Arizona State. Wren latched on with the Philadelphia Eagles for training camp, but failed to make the final roster cut. He has always played in a 4-3 system, and the Steelers think he can maybe fit into their 3-4 better. Over his time with Cincinnati, Wren racked up 9 tackles and two starts with the team.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Josh Malone was released from the practice squad. Malone has bounced on and off the Steelers practice squad throughout the season, often playing the role of a bigger, more physical wide receiver at times.

Malone, 26, was a fourth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals out of Tennessee in 2017 and spent two seasons with Cincinnati, playing in 20 games, and then appeared in six games with the New York Jets in 2019 and 2020.
