Steelers Sign Shifty Former Falcons Wide Receiver Keilahn Harris

Steelers WR Keilahn Harris

The Steelers are signing former Falcons wide receiver Keilahn Harris as part of their 17 reserve/future contracts on Wednesday, the team announced. Pittsburgh hosted Harris as part of a nine-player workout three weeks ago, and now they have signed him to a contract.

Harris is a small school receiver who went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. He landed with the Falcons, too, and has been on their practice squad a few times throughout the season. Harris played at Oklahoma Baptist University, returning punts and kicks and becoming a three-time All-Conference selection.

Those small-school roots helped Harris blossom into an NFL Draft prospect. He was invited to the NFLPA Game, and posted straight back-to-back 1000 receiving yard seasons while there. Harris caught 16 touchdowns in 2021 while returning a kickoff to the house, too. 2022 was his first season as a punt returner, where he fielded ten punts for 66 yards. That versatility is appreciated for anyone trying to make the bottom of the roster, and Harris has a return specialist background that could help him there.

The Steelers signed four other wide receivers: Denzel Mims, Deuce Watts, Dez Fitzpatrick, and Marquez Callaway. Harris will join a group of receivers who is already well-filled out on the roster, but with Miles Boykin’s contract expiring and Allen Robinson II on the way out, there could be a path for Callaway to make the team.
