Steelers Sign 6th-Round TE Connor Heyward to Rookie Contract
The Steelers officially have four sets of brothers on their training camp roster, as sixth-round pick Connor Heyward has officially agreed to sign his rookie contract, according to the NFL transactions page for Friday.
Heyward was selected 208th overall, the Steelers’ fifth of seven total picks. Financial terms were not disclosed. OverTheCap estimates a $705,000 salary in 2022 and a $182,740 signing bonus as the financial terms for a sixth-round selection.
The Michigan State product and brother of All-Pro defensive lineman Cam Heyward played multiple different positions as a Spartan. Heyward slotted both as a running back and tight end during his Michigan State career spanning 2017-21, and is also projected to be able to play fullback and special teams in the NFL.
He rushed for 529 yards and five touchdowns on 118 carries in 2018. Heyward combined for 711 total receiving yards and six touchdowns in 45 total games.
The Steelers signed second rounder George Pickens Friday afternoon as the first pick of their 2022 NFL Draft class to sign.
The Heywards join T.J. and Derek Watt, Trey and Terrell Edmunds and Carlos and Khalil Davis as the brothers on the Steelers squad.
