Steelers Sign Speedy Former Colts Running Back

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Indianapolis Colts running back Evan Hull, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Hull was the Colts’ fifth-round pick out of Northwestern in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has just one rush attempt for one yard in his career. Hull suffered a torn meniscus and MCL in his knee on the one run, which ended his 2023 season.

In 2024, Hull was waived by the Colts on August 27, and then re-signed to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on October 12. He was waived on October 26, and re-signed to the practice squad.

Hull led all FBS running backs with 54 receptions and was second amongst all Big Ten receivers with 483 yards after the catch in his final season at Northwestern in 2022. He finished the season with 913 rushing yards and a career-best 546 receiving yards.

Hull was only the 16th player since 2000 to average over 75 rushing yards and 45 receiving yards a game over an entire season, most recently done by Travis Etienne and Saquon Barkley.

Hull, who stands at 5-foot-10, 209 pounds, ran a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

In addition to Hull, the Steelers signed offensive lineman Dylan Cook, defensive tackle Domenique Davis, linebacker Devin Harper, running back Evan Hull, defensive back D’Shawn Jamison, wide receiver Brandon Johnson, guard Steven Jones, linebacker Eku Leota, wide receiver Lance McCutcheon, defensive back Kyler McMichael, guard Doug Nester, linebacker Thomas Rush, running back Aaron Shampklin, defensive tackle Jacob Slade, quarterback Skylar Thompson, linebacker Julius Welschof and defensive back to Joshuah Bledsoe to reserve/future contracts.
