Steelers South Side Scoop: Getting in Greg Roman’s Head, What’s Holding OL Together? (+)

Steelers South Side Scoop

PITTSBURGH — So much of this week’s matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers will come down to familiarity.

The Steelers spent the last four years playing twice a season against Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman. They know as much about his scheme and what he wants to do to attack a defense as anyone that isn’t in his locker room.

They also have several players that have literally been in his locker room. Patrick Queen, DeShon Elliott and Anthony Averett have all spent time with the Ravens when Roman was the offensive coordinator.

So there is a very high level of familiarity with what Roman wants to do on a down-in, down-out basis. Of course, Roman is well aware of the Steelers level of awareness of his tendencies.

You can really twist yourself into a spy vs. spy game if you want to.
