Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt may have been named last season’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year, but he is not among the betting odds favorites to win the award in 2022.

Watt owns the second-best odds at 7/1, while Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is favored at 13/2, courtesy of BetOnline.

Watt led the league with an NFL-record-tying 22.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss in only 15 games a season ago. Not only was it his second-straight season pacing the league in both categories, but Watt also earned his third consecutive First-Team All-Pro nod in 2021 as well.

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who is a three-time recipient, owns the third-shortest odds at 15/2. Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker Micah Parson (9/1) and pass-rushing brothers Nick (11/1) and Joey Bosa (18/1) follow. Pass rushers dominated the award odds, with Khalil Mack (20/1), Chase Young (22/1), Maxx Crosby (25/1), Von Miller (25/1) rounding out the top 10.

Watt is not the only Steelers defender listed, as Pittsburgh defensive end Cam Heyward is 66/1 to claim the award for the first time. Heyward had ten sacks and 15 tackles-for-loss in 2021. He earned his third First-Team All-Pro selection over the last five seasons and went to his fifth-straight Pro Bowl.
