CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson has released his latest mock draft, and believes the Pittsburgh Steelers will select Ben Roethlisberger’s successor next April.
With the tenth pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Wilson predicts the Steelers will take Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral.
“Corral has the tools to be a Lamar Jackson/Trey Lance/Josh Allen-type quarterback but he’s still incredibly raw,” Wilson writes. “The time is now in Pittsburgh, however, where we can’t envision a situation where Big Ben returns.”
Widely regarded as the best dual-threat quarterback in the class, Corral has had phenomenal start just three games into the 2021 season.
The junior has completed nearly 69% of his passes for 997 yards and nine touchdowns without an interception. Corral has also rushed for five scores.
While the Steelers Will almost certainly be in the market for a quarterback this offseason, it is unlikely the top prospect at the position would be available as late as the tenth pick.
Still, Pittsburgh’s season is far from set in stone, and could find themselves selecting even earlier if things continue to trend in their current direction.
Big Ben's replacement coming in the 2022 NFL Draft? Potentially, according to our @ryanwilsonCBS.
