NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks has unveiled his latest mock draft, and believes the Pittsburgh Steelers will snag their quarterback of the future in the first round, projecting Pittsburgh to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis with the 20th overall selection.

“Head coach Mike Tomlin ushers in a new era with an ultra-athletic quarterback supported by a defense that could enable the Steelers to survive the youngster’s growing pains,” Brooks wrote.

He threw for 5,107 yards and 47 touchdowns with 18 interceptions over two seasons as the Flames’ starter. The speedy Willis also ran for 1,822 yards and 27 touchdowns in his two years at Liberty.

Willis is the third quarterback off the board in Brooks’ hypothetical. Pitt’s Kenny Pickett is taken by the Carolina Panthers at No. 6, while Ole Miss’ Matt Corral goes 18th to the New Orleans Saints.

Brooks’ mock was the second on Tuesday that connected Willis to the Steelers, following one from ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. The Steelers have been repeatedly connected to the quarterback after taking a close interest in him during the Senior Bowl last month.
