CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards has unveiled his latest mock draft, and believes the Pittsburgh Steelers will bolster their offensive line with their first rounder.
With the 20th-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Edwards projects the Steelers to select Northern Iowa offensive tackle Trevor Penning.
“I think Pittsburgh has a few interior players that are worth developing. I am more concerned with the offense tackle position,” Edwards writes. “Najee Harris had to feel as though he was slamming his head against a brick wall countless times this season, as he found few clear run lanes.”
A three-year starter for Northern Iowa, Penning was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award this past season, which is awarded annually to the most outstanding offensive player at the FCS level. He was also a unanimous All-American.
Penning is CBS Sports’ eight-ranked offensive lineman and their 43rd prospect overall.
