The latest two-round mock draft by Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports has the Steelers selecting an edge rusher in the first round and an offensive lineman in the second.

Trapasso’s latest mock has the Steelers taking Wake Forest edge rusher Carlos “Boogie” Basham Jr. with the No. 24 overall pick. The Steelers were not at Basham’s pro day, but general manager Kevin Colbert did see him work out at the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

Basham is 6-foot-5, 285 pounds and had a productive career with the Demon Deacons, recording 19.5 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss in his final 31 games along. He had a 23-game streak of recording at least one tackle for loss.

The Steelers have a depth need at edge rusher after losing starter Bud Dupree and backup Ola Adeniyi to free agency. 2020 rookie Alex Highsmith is expected to take over Dupree’s starting role.

“The Steelers will want to add to add an edge rusher early on, and Basham feels like a big-bodied Pittsburgh trench player,” Trapasso wrote.

In the second round, Trapasso has the Steelers taking Notre Dame tackle Liam Eichenberg. Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin were at the Irish pro day to see the t6-foot-6, 302-pound Eichenberg, among others.

The first-team All-American would immediately provide the Steelers competition for a starting role at tackle.
