Steelers TE Suffers Chest Injury

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth

PITTSBURGH — Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth suffered a chest injury, and is questionable to return to the game, the team announced on Sunday. The injury occurred on a ball over the middle from Kenny Pickett when 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga came over and hit Freiermuth right in the chest.

joins a long list of injuries for the Steelers, with Diontae Johnson, Cam Heyward, and DeMarvin Leal all suffering injuries throughout the game. As a result, Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward will play even more now that Freiermuth suffered the injury.

Freiermuth has the lone Steelers touchdown on the day. Pittsburgh has only 93 yards of passing on the day, with Freiermuth having only that one reception. Against a stacked 49ers defense, Pittsburgh has been unable to do much of anything. Losing Freiermuth and Johnson will not help the team at all.

Freiermuth is one of the players that the Steelers expected to be a young player that could break out. However, the injuries the team faces across their young offensive skill weapons group are highly concerning. They have not been able to get much of anything going down the field, with the Steelers dinking and dunking their way on their lone touchdown drive. However, with time ticking away and Pittsburgh down three touchdowns, the team needs to start hitting some explosive plays.
