Steelers Tender RB Jaylen Warren, Securing His Rights for 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers have tendered a contract offer to restricted free agent running back Jaylen Warren, securing his rights for the 2025 season, his agents told NFL Network.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan had already said he expected the move to happen, when he last spoke with the media at the 2025 NFL Combine.
“I’m confident we’re going to tender him and be in a position where Jaylen’s going to be here,” Khan said.
The tender offer is a one-year contract worth a non-guaranteed $5.3 million. Warren can sign the tender and player under the one-year contract, or he and the Steelers can work out a long-term contact extension.

Warren is also free to negotiate with other teams, though the Steelers would have the right of first refusal to match any contract Warren agreed to with another club, and because the Steelers used a second-round tender, any team signing Warren away would owe them a second-round draft pick.
They could have offered him a first-round tender, but that would have raised the price of his contract to $7.5 million. The Steelers also could have only secured right of first refusal rights, and that contract would have cost $3.3 million.
With fellow running back Najee Harris expected to hit free agency, Warren will enter the 2025 season as the Steelers No. 1 running back.
Warren has yet to serve as a No. 1 running back in the first three years of his NFL career, but he has flashed that he could be that while rushing for 1,674 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and six touchdowns during the span. He also has 127 catches for 894 yards.
