The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most-followed NFL teams on TikTok, according to market research by Casino Alpha.

The Steelers have accumulated over 22.5 million TikTok likes in 2023 so far, the seventh-most of any NFL team. The Steelers have over 1.7 million followers on the social media platform that is most popular among America’s youth.

The Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs are the most-followed account with with 2.6 million followers. The Philadelphia Eagles (2 million), Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys (1.9 million) and Buffalo Bills (1.8 million) also have more followers than the Steelers, while the Cincinnati Bengals also have around 1.7 million.

TikTok is a video-based social media service that became available worldwide in 2018. The format allows There are over 1.5 billion worldwide users of TikTok. Of the 32 NFL teams, 31 have a presence on TikTok, with the Minnesota Vikings the lone holdout.

A 2022 survey showed that two-thirds of Americans between the ages of 18 and 19 are TikTok users, and over half of Americans under 30 use the app.

The Steelers’ following on TikTok lags behind the team’s audience on other social media networks. The Steelers have 5.9 million Facebook followers, 3.7 million Twitter followers and 3.4 million Instagram followers.

The Steelers’ first post on TikTok was in 2019. Most of the team’s content on the platform includes behind-the-scenes player interviews, highlights and mic’d up video clips. Cam Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick helped make a video for the platform at the Pro Bowl earlier this month.

In addition to the team, several Steelers players have their own TikTok accounts, including Calvin Austin III, J.C. Hassenauer, DeMarvin Leal, Alex Highsmith, Jaylen Warren, Najee Harris, Levi Wallace, Kendrick Green, Benny Snell and Tre Norwood.

Former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster made headlines for his dance that he performed on the 50-yard line at opposing stadiums for his TikTok account in 2020.
