Steelers to Host Highly-Touted Oklahoma State RB for Pre-Draft Visit

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II has a top-30 visit scheduled with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network. It’ll be the second formal meeting for Gordon with Pittsburgh, as the Steelers also met with him at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last month.

Gordon, 21, is coming off a productive 2024 season during which he rushed for 880 yards (4.6 yards per carry) and 13 touchdowns. He also recorded 29 catches for 179 yards and a score.

However, he truly made a name for himself in 2023. As a sophomore, Gordon ran for 1,732 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns on his way to winning the Doak Walker Award, which honors the top running back in college football.

Gordon also fits the mold of the big-bodied running back the Steelers have typically looked for to be their bell cow, standing at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds.

The Steelers are in need of a running back after Najee Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency, so Tuten could be an ideal pick in the third round. The Steelers don’t have a second-round pick due to the blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahaws for star wide receiver DK Metcalf.

The Steelers placed a second-round tender on Jaylen Warren and signed Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell to a free agent contract. A Warren, Gordon, Gainwell and Cordarrelle Patterson backfield certainly would give the Steelers a lot of versatility. Patterson could potentially be a salary cap casualty this offseason, however.

The Steelers are able to host 30 visitors between now and the 2025 NFL Draft. Running backs DJ Giddens (Kansas State) and Dylan Sampson (Tennessee) have already visited with the Steelers. Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tutten reportedly as a visit scheduled, as well.
