Steelers to Host Malik Willis for Pre-Draft Visit Wednesday
Liberty quarterback Malik Willis will make his top 30 pre-draft visit with the Steelers on Wednesday, according to multiple media reports.
The Steelers have shown plenty of interest in Willis, dating back to general manager Kevin Colbert attending his bowl game in person.
Since then, head coach Mike Tomlin sought out his family at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., the Steelers met with Willis at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, and Colbert and Tomlin attended the Liberty pro day to scout him in person once again.
Because of that attention, the Steelers have been repeatedly tied to Willis in mock drafts, though it’s unclear whether he will be available when the team picks at No. 20 overall.
Willis threw for 5,107 yards and 47 touchdowns with 18 interceptions over two seasons as the Flames’ starter. The speedy Willis also ran for 1,822 yards and 27 touchdowns in his two years at Liberty. He is seen by many as the top quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft class.
Willis will make more than a half dozen quarterbacks to visit with the Steelers in the pre-draft process, including Pitt’s Kenny Pickett, Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder, North Carolina’s Sam Howell, Ole Miss’ Matt Corral, Nevada’s Carson Strong and South Dakota State’s Chris Oladokun.
