Steelers to Host Hyper-Athletic Safety for Pre-Draft Visit

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a pre-draft visit scheduled with Pitt safety Donovan McMillon this week, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network. Since he played at Pitt, McMillon is a local visit and will not count against the 30 pre-draft visits that each team is permitted.
McMillon turned heads at his Pitt pro day, running a 4.44/4.47 40-time, which ranked fifth-best among safeties.
Standing as one of the bigger safeties in the class at 6-foot-1 5/8, 203 pounds, McMillon wanted to showcase that he could still move at an elite pace.
“That’s the one thing that these scouts and team have been wondering how fast I’m going to be? I think I proved it,” McMillon said. “Being one of the bigger safeties in the draft this year being able to be fast as well. This league is just about speed. At the end of the day, you have to go cover guys like Tyreek Hill and guys who are literally cheetahs on the field. Me being able to go showcase my speed was really important to me and I hit my goal and hopefully that changed some thoughts about me.”
He also added 21 reps on the bench press, a 35-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-5 broad jump, 6.94-second three-cone drill and 4.13 shuttle.
The Steelers don’t have an immediate need at strong safety, but starter DeShon Elliott is entering the final season of his contract and backup Juan Thornhill is only signed to a one-year deal.
The Steelers brought in South Carolina strong safety Nick Emmanwori for a pre-draft visit last Friday, continuing their consistent interest in the safety position in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Outside of two years with the Florid Gators, Donovan McMillon spent his entire football career in Pittsburgh. McMillon had a standout senior season at Pitt, earning second-team All-ACC honors, leading the Panthers with 115 tackles (55 solo), a tackle for loss, an interception, eight pass breakups and a forced fumble. It was the second year in a row that he recorded over 100 tackles.
McMillon finished his Pitt career with 220 tackles (109 solo), two tackles for loss, an interception, nine passes defended and two forced fumbles.
