Akers shined over his three years in Tallahassee, rushing for 2,875 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also caught 69 passes for 486 yards and seven scores during his Seminole career. Akers was a top-10 recruit nationally coming out of the 2017 class.
While the Seminole program has been down over the last few years, Akers still found a way to be one of the most productive rushers in the ACC. At 5-10, 217 lbs, Akers is a powerful back with good vision and elusiveness in the open field.
Drafting Akers would add a dynamic, versatile rusher to a Steelers running back group that was plagued by injuries and inconsistency in 2019.
