Steelers to Sign Michigan State CB Shakur Brown

The Steelers have added another piece to help the need at the cornerback position, signing Michigan State corner Shakur Brown. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network first broke the news via Twitter.

Brown turned to Twitter to express his apparent motivation after being undrafted.

In 26 career games with the Spartans, Brown tallied 54 tackles, seven interceptions, nine pass breakups, and two sacks. His 186 career interception return yards are eighth in Michigan State history. In 2020, Brown was a second-team All American and a first-team All-Big Ten selection.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Brown has the ball skills and experience to play as both a slot and outside corner and possess solid tackling traits. He will join former Michigan State teammate Justin Layne in the Steelers’ cornerback room.
