Steelers to Start J.C. Hassenauer at Center, Despite Kendrick Green Dressing
PITTSBURGH — J.C. Hassenauer is expected to start at center for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Cleveland Browns on Monday night, even though Kendrick Green is dressed.
Green, who has started every game this season at center for the Steelers, suffered a calf injury in Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs and missed the team’s first two practice sessions leading up to the Browns game. He was limited in the third.
Hassenauer will make his second start of the season. He also started at left guard in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has started five games in his NFL career.
Green, guard/tackle Joe Haeg and practice squad guard Rashaad Coward are the team’s available backups.
The Steelers will start Marcus Allen and Robert Spillane at inside linebacker in place of Devin Bush and Joe Schobert, who are on the COVID-19 reserve list.
