PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers traded down from their pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, recouping the fourth-rounder they used to trade up in the first round on Thursday.

Onar Khan traded pick No. 80 to the Carolina Panthers, for pick No. 93 in the third round and pick No. 132 at the end of the fourth round.

The Panthers used the pick to acquire edge rusher D.J. Johnson from Oregon.

The Steelers originally had pick No. 120 in the fourth round, but traded that pick to move up from No. 17 to No. 14 int he first round on Thursday to acquire tackle Broderick Jones.

The Steelers had just six selections after trading their fourth-rounder for Jones, and had no picks between No. 80 in the third round and No. 241 in the seventh round.

According to the Rich Hill trade value chart via Drafttek.com, the Steelers got slightly more value out of the exchange than the Panthers did.

Pittsburgh general manager Khan appears to be living up to the “aggressive” moniker bestowed upon him by Mike Tomlin. He has traded eight draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft to or from the Steelers so far.
